Yes, any shipments managed by Sirva will be insured via standard Full-Value Protection insurance, which reflects the estimated monetary value of your shipment.
Sirva offers a lump sum insurance coverage based on the weight of your shipment. This will be determined once the pre-move survey has been carried out. If you feel the amount of cover will not be sufficient to cover your household goods, you will have the option to complete a full Valued Insurance Listing which will allow you to list every item you will be moving. If your employer offers insurance under a self-insured model, you will be provided the documentation for your insurance and the coverage and process outlined including any insurance caps in place.
Your household goods mover will provide you with all the necessary insurance documentation and will outline the coverage criteria as it pertains to your move.
Your insurance coverage will take effect from the moment the movers enter your home to begin packing your belongings up to, and including, final delivery to your new residence or a self-storage facility. At the time of final delivery, your mover will ask you to inspect all items in your shipment. If you should find that there is damage, destruction, or loss while your goods were in transit, your household goods mover will provide you with the appropriate paperwork to submit a claim. Our goal is to move your family’s personal belongings from your current home to your new home as quickly and carefully as possible and to resolve any potential claims within a timely fashion.
